Travel to Ethiopia & Eritrea With Teff Stamford

Located just a few towns over in Stamford is Teff Stamford - an Ethiopian restaurant that is a family-owned restaurant that prides itself on its pure Ethiopian gluten-free and vegan cuisine. Not only does the menu have an array of amazing items that will fill your stomach and satisfy your taste buds but the food also stems from the even more unique stories of the owners - the Mekonen and Mengesha family.

Teff Stamford opened in 2015 in Stamford, placing the flavors of their cuisine in the hands of Chef Hadas Mengesha, who is a resident of Stamford and an immigrant from Ethiopia. Through their unique dishes, Teff strives to bring the culture and flavors of Ethiopia to customers' plates right here in Connecticut.

This restaurant is even the perfect spot for those who prefer gluten-free options, as all of their dishes do not contain any gluten or nut products. Some of their key ingredients include teff, which is a highly nutritional grain of Ethiopia and Eritrea that has a mild, nutty flavor. Many of their dishes also include berbere, which is a "staple spice mixture whose ingredients include sun-dried african chili peppers, garlic, ginger, basic, korarima, rue, ajwain, or radhuni, nigella, and fenugreek"
